Celebrate Brick Township's Birthday At Town's Party
The event Saturday marks the town's 166th year of existence.

BRICK, NJ -- In 1850, Millard Fillmore became president, the debate over the future of slavery was heating up, and the Pinelands were home to a host of saw mills, grist mills and iron forges.
And on Feb. 15, 1850, Brick Township came into being.
The town’s boundaries were far different then, encompassing the area where Lakewood, Point Pleasant, Point Pleasant Beach, Bay Head and Mantoloking as well as Brick exist today, according to the Brick Township Historical Society. Its population was far different too; according to the historical society, Brick’s population in the 1850 Census was recorded as 1,558.
