Circus Restaurant Calls it a Season

Mother Nature was not happy the day the opened for the season this past March.

Cold rain, an unseasonably chilly 35 degrees and a dusting of snow in the early morning greeted new owner Richard Rose .

A good omen it was, Rose said about the rain.

“If it rains on your wedding day, its supposed to be good luck,’’ he said.

Rose re-vamped the restaurant's menu, added items and fountain sodas and won an award for best summer grub in the shore area.

“We’re trying to step it up a notch,’’ he said.

Nearly seven months later, the Circus, on Route 35, is shutting down for the season on Sunday, Oct. 9.

The restaurant will be open Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and then closed until Spring. An exact opening date was unavailable Friday.
