The suspect was identified within hours of posting the bank's surveillance photographs on the police department's Facebook page.

Police arrested a suspect allegedly connected to a Friday robbery of a TD Bank branch in Ocean County.

Jerome Gilby, 30, of Oak Street in Lakehurst was taken into custody at his girlfriend’s house on the 3200 block of Oceanic Avenue in Toms River, police said.

Gilby was identified within hours of posting the Toms River bank’s surveillance photographs on the police department’s Facebook page and online via numerous local media outlets, police said.

Over a dozen tipsters recognized Gilby and contacted the police department. Investigators from the FBI, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit, Lakehurst Police, Brick Police, and the Seaside Heights Police Department worked closely to track down the whereabouts of Gilby, police said.

Once his location was determined, a surveillance team was set up at the Oceanic Drive residence. After a short period of time the arrest was made at that home, police said.

Gilby, who was taken into custody at 4:30 pm on Monday, was charged with the bank robbery and is being held on $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option for release.

The suspect walked into the TD Bank at 10 Mule Road early Friday evening and handed the teller a note demanding cash, department spokesman Ralph Stocco said.

The incident took place at roughly 6:45 p.m. The man then left the bank and fled the scene in an unknown direction, he said.
