Crack Cocaine, Amphetamines Seized, 2 Arrested In Brick Bust

BRICK, NJ — Two Brick Township men are facing drug charges after police seized amphetamine pills, crack cocaine and cash during an investigation, police said Thursday.

Frank J. Russo Jr., 67, and Matthew J. Russo, 38, were arrested Wednesday at the Wawa on Drum Point Road after an investigation prompted when police saw a white Honda that was drifting in and out of its lane on Drum Point, Brick Sgt. Jim Kelly said.

Kelly said detectives with the police department's Street Crimes Unit saw the Honda about 9:30 p.m. failing to maintain its lane before pulling into the Wawa at 383 Drum Point Road. The two people in the car went into the store, and while they were there, Brick K-9 Officer Scott Smith arrived, Kelly said.

The investigation at the scene turned up an unspecified quantity of amphetamine pills, crack cocaine, paraphernalia, and a large amount of cash, he said.

Frank Russo, the driver, was charged with distribution of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and motor vehicle summonses, Kelly said, and Matthew Russo was charged with possession of amphetamine pills and possession of paraphernalia.

Both were served warrants; they are being held at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River.

The cash was seized as per asset forfeiture procedures, Kelly said.
