Crash Closes Beaverson Boulevard, Knocks Out Power to 1,500 Customers: Brick Police

Breaking: Traffic is being diverted in the area; police are urging motorists to avoid the area due to fog.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township police are telling motorists to avoid Beaverson Boulevard for at least the next four hours after a motor vehicle crash that has resulted in road closures and knocked out power to up to 1,500 customers.

In a Nixle alert issued at 8:45 p.m., police said the crash is at the intersection of Beaverson Boulevard and Old Toms River Road. Old Toms River Road leads to Lake Riviera Middle School on the south side of the road and to the Lake Riviera residential development on the north side. Beaverson becomes Shorrock Street just beyond the Old Toms River Road intersection.

"Please avoid the area as visibility is already significantly decreased due to fog," police said.

The crash has brought down live electrical wires, police said.

"The area has lost power and some traffic lights are out," Brick police said. "For those in the area who currently have power, you may lose it when repairs are made."

The First Energy power outage map estimates between 500 and 1,500 customers are without power in the area.

There are traffic detours in place and motorists are being diverted around the area, police said.
