Crash Causes Major Backup On Parkway: Police

Breaking: Traffic was backed up for 3 miles, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office said.

BRICK, NJ — A motor vehicle accident in the left lane of the Garden State Parkway in Brick caused a 3-mile backup Thursday morning, authorities said.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes just south of the exit for Chambersbridge Road, authorities said.

The backup was causing delays of up to an hour, the Ocean County Sheriff's office said via Nixle, but traffic had started flowing again by 9:15 a.m. and the state Department of Transportation website, 511nj.org, was only showing residual delays.
