Murder-Suicide Investigation Underway At Home In Brick

BRICK, NJ — An elderly couple has died in what authorities say is a murder-suicide at a home in the Cherry Quay section of Brick.

The Ocean County prosecutor's office released an update on the investigation at the home on Club House Drive near Jib Lane late Tuesday morning that said police found the two people — an 80-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man — Monday evening when they went to conduct a welfare check on the couple.

Each had suffered a single gunshot wound and both were pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation has revealed the man shot his wife before taking his own life, the prosecutor's office said.

The crime scene has been contained and there is no danger to the public, authorities said.

Detectives from the Brick Township Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit are investigating.
