Dispute Turns Into Assault Charge For Brick Man: Police

The man followed the victim into his residence during the assault; the victim suffered abrasions and refused medical attention, police said.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township man has been charged with assault following a dispute with another man that turned physical, township police said Wednesday.

Kayvon Tinnery, 23, of Brick, was charged with burglary, terroristic threats and simple assault in the incident, which happened a little before 10 p.m. on Sunday, Sgt. Neal Pedersen said.

Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Sawmill Road at 9:53 p.m. and found that Tinnery had gotten into a dispute with the victim, a 24-year-old male, and when the victim went into his residence, Tinnery followed, assaulting the man, then fleeing, Pedersen said.

The victim sustained abrasions but refused medical treatment, Pedersen said.

Police were able to locate Tinnery based on the victim's description of him, and Officer Brian Williams arrested him, Pedersen said.

Tinnery is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail, no 10 percent option, at the Ocean County Jail, according to jail records.
