More Details: 1 Killed In 3-Vehicle Brick Parkway Crash (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Several people were involved in the crash, police said.

BRICK, NJ — One person was killed and others were hurt this weekend after a three-vehicle crash near milepost 93.3 on the Garden State Parkway, police said.

The Brick crash took place at 5:22 p.m. on Saturday in the Parkway's northbound lanes.

A Ford Explorer was traveling northbound when it entered the right shoulder and struck the rear of a parked Hyundai Santa Fe, which then struck the rear of a parked Honda CR-V, police said.

The drivers of the Hyundai and the Honda were not in their vehicles and were not injured. The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries, police said.

One occupant of the Hyundai sustained serious injuries and was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center, and the other occupant, Rachel Upright, 15, of New Milford, Pa., was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The two right lanes were closed for about thee hours.
