Football: Brick Memorial Overcome by Middletown South

The Mustangs twice led but fell to late-game heroics

Brick Memorial looked like it might pull off an upset of Middletown South on Friday night.

But try as they might, the Mustangs couldn’t hold off the Eagles, and fell as Middletown South rallied for a 24-21 victory in the nondivisional Shore Conference football game, according to the Shore Sports Network.

Brick Memorial (4-3) led 14-0 at halftime thanks to a pair of touchdowns -- one rushing, one passing -- from quarterback Tim Santiago. His 32-yard strike to receiver Karl Kumm put the Mustangs up 14-0 and gave a sense that Brick Memorial was in control.
