Football: Brick Memorial Wins On Cuppari's Last-Seconds Field Goal
Mustangs fight for victory to even record at 1-1

Trailing by a point with less than a minute remaining, the Brick Memorial football team moved the ball into Toms River North territory, and Mustangs’ kicker Matt Cuppari booted a 40-yard field goal to lift them to a 16-14 Shore Conference Class A South victory on Saturday.
Brick Memorial rebounded from its season-opening shutout loss to crosstown rival Brick Township, opening the game Saturday by scoring a touchdown on its opening drive of the game, with Connor Owen scoring from 8 yards out for a 7-0 lead.
Toms River North, which beat Lacey last weekend, responded with a big play on its first offensive play from scrimmage to tie the game.

The score remained tied at 7-7 until the fourth quarter, when Mustangs’ quarterback Tim Santiago scored on a 24-yard run, but the point-after failed, leaving the Mustangs ahead 13-7.
The Mariners answered again, driving for a touchdown and a 14-13 lead with 51 seconds left for Brick Memorial to respond. And the Mustangs did, driving into Mariner territory. With 11 seconds left, Cuppari was summoned for a 40-yard field goal and his kick sailed through the uprights to give Brick Memorial the win.
