FOOTBALL: Brick Memorial's Santiago Sets Record; Brick Steamrolls Southern

The Mustangs and the Dragons rack up easy victories in Week 2.

Brick Memorial quarterback Tim Santiago (pictured) set a school rushing record for a quarterback as the Mustangs took out their frustrations of an opening-week loss, beating Toms River North 52-20 on Friday night at Brick Memorial.

Meanwhile, Jay Obenauer scored on a 50-yard run 22 seconds into the game, and Brick rolled to a 35-0 victory over Southern a week after beating the Mustangs 36-6.

Against Brick, Santiago was unable to break free. On Friday, however, Santiago ran wild, according to NJ.com, racking up 333 yards and four touchdowns against the Mariners in the Shore Conference Class A South football game.

Toms River North (1-1, 1-1), which opened the season with a victory over Lacey, kept pace with Brick Memorial initially, matching the Mustangs’ first two touchdowns, including a 33-yard score Ashanti Moorer that tied the game at 14-14.

But Brick Memorial turned up the heat, and Santiago took control after that.
