Frankie Edgar Headlines 'Knock Out Substance Abuse' Talk In Brick

The event will provide important information for parents about opioid addiction and how it starts for so many: prescription painkillers.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township parents, students and residents are invited to come out Thursday night to see MMA champion Frankie Edgar and talk about the importance of staying away from substance abuse.

The event, set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 at Brick Township High School, is titled "Knock Out Substance Abuse," and the "feature exhibit" pits Edgar vs. Dan O'Cone, assistant principal at Brick Memorial High School and a three-time NCAA Division III wrestling All-America selection.

The main speaker at the event is Trish Horner, a Tuckerton mother who will share the story about her son Christopher in a presentation titled, "Christopher's Journal: A Mother's Love." Horner's son died at age 18 after he became addicted to OxyContin following an accident where he suffered a back injury.
