George Floyd Protest Planned In Brick Monday
The protest, over the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody, is planned at Windward Beach.

BRICK, NJ — A Black Lives Matter protest is scheduled for Monday afternoon at Windward Beach Park in Brick.
The protest is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and is one of dozens around the country and around New Jersey that have arisen in the wake of the death of George Floyd.
The organizers are calling for a peaceful event. "Absolutely no violence will be tolerated," the flyer circulating about the protest notes.

Floyd, 46, died May 25 after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck while arresting Floyd following a 911 call reporting a counterfeit $20 bill.
Funeral services for Floyd were being held Monday in Houston, where he had been born and raised.

Derek Chauvin, the police officer who was seen in multiple videos kneeling on Floyd's neck for more than 8 minutes before he died, was fired and has been charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter. He was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday. Three other Minneapolis police officers involved in the incident have been fired; charges of aiding and abetting murder and manslaughter were filed against them last week.
