Once an ancient Tocobaga Indian village, this area is the purported landing site of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca in 1528. Learn the amazing story of his journey from Florida to the Pacific Ocean from 1528 – 1536 at the place where it all began. Family-owned since the 1940s, the property features a botanical garden full of native plants used by the Tocobaga, sweeping views of Boca Ciega Bay, and one of the best-preserved Indian mounds in Florida. Over 50 free-roaming peacocks call the Jungle Prada site home. Your guide is an certified horticulture professional and local historian with years of experience leading guided tours at some of Florida’s most famous attractions. They have weddings, campfires and a host of events. Historian-led guided tours of the Anderson/Narvaez archaeological site are provided Wednesday through Sunday at 11:30am and 2:30pm.
