Head-On Crash Kills 97-Year-Old Driver At The Jersey Shore

BRICK, NJ — A 97-year-old Brick Township man was killed Monday night in a head-on crash on Drum Point Road, Brick police said.

Frank Pugliese, 97, sustained fatal injuries in the crash about 7:15 p.m. on Drum Point Road at Johnson Road, police said.

Pugliese was driving a 2024 Hyundai Elantra east on Drum Point Road when he crossed the center line and hit a 2026 Cadillac Escalade that was headed west on Drum Point Road, police said.

The driver of the Cadillac, Taylor Reinig, 36, of Brick, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Drum Point Road was closed in both directions for about five hours for the preliminary investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by the Brick Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
