Heavy Flooding Blocks Part Of Hooper Avenue In Brick

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township police are warning drivers to avoid the area of Old Hooper Avenue because of heavy flooding Friday afternoon.

The heavy flooding is in the area of Bay Harbor Boulevard, police said in alert.

Heavy rain has caused flooded roads across the state.

New Jersey State Police issued these reminders about the danger of flooded roads:

• Six inches of fast-moving floodwater can knock you off your feet, and a depth of two feet will float your car! Never try to walk, bike or drive through flooded areas. Water may be deeper than you think!
• Do not attempt to drive over a flooded road. Obey traffic barriers. STOP! Turn around and go another way.
• Keep children from playing in floodwaters or near culverts and storm drains.
