Heavy Rains Briefly Flood Six Flags Great Adventure [VIDEOS]
Breaking: The downpours closed rides and overwhelmed storm drains but the flooding didn't last long, a park spokeswoman says.

JACKSON, NJ — The heavy rain that caused flooding in many parts of New Jersey on Sunday also caused flooding at Six Flags Great Adventure.
Videos posted on the American Amusement Park Museum and Club show park patrons wading through water that appeared to be a foot deep in spots.
Kristin B. Siebeneicher, spokeswoman for Six Flags Great Adventure, said the park experienced temporary flooding due to the heavy volume of rain that fell.

Park patrons said the flooding was primarily in the lakefront area and the area around the fountain.
"There are parts of the park that gather more rain water, given changes in elevation. Just like the gutters on your house in a heavy rain storm, the drains in those areas cannot always handle the volume at one time," Siebeneicher said.

Rides were closed down during the storm but reopened once the rain subsided, she said. The park remained open throughout the storm, she said. There were no injuries, she said.
"The safety of our guests and employees is our No. 1 priority," Siebeneicher said.
As much as six inches of rain fell Sunday, with showers bringing as much as two inches per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
More downpours and thunderstorms are possible Monday evening, along with the potential for more flash flooding, the National Weather Service said.
