Help Billy: Local Mechanic and Volunteer EMT Former Captain Battles Stage 4 Kidney Cancer
After decades of helping others, Billy and his family urgently need our community's support.

For more than 30 years, Billy has quietly helped people throughout our community. Today, this longtime local mechanic and former volunteer EMT and Captain of Herbertsville First Aid in the 1990's is facing the fight of his life-and he needs the community he served to stand beside him.
Billy has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer that has spread to his lungs, lymphatic system, bones, stomach and behind his kidneys. His treatment plan includes oral chemo medication and immunotherapy. He is facing this devastating illness without adequate insurance or the financial resources needed to manage treatment-related costs and ordinary living expenses.
Many people in the Point Pleasant Beach, Point Pleasant Borough and Brick area from his 30 plus years working as a mechanic at Briggs Transportation. He was not simply someone who repaired bus's /vehicles. Billy understood that many families were struggling financially, and he regularly tried to help people keep their cars safely on the road without overwhelming them with costs they couldn't afford.

Billy also devoted part of his life to helping people during emergencies. He served as a volunteer EMT/Captain for a few years. Whenever someone else needed help, Billy stepped forward. Now it's our turn to step forward for him.
I started this GoFundMe because no person should have to fight stage 4 cancer while worrying about rent, utilities, groceries, transportation to appointments, medication, and other necessities. Every donation will help relieve some of that pressure so Billy and his family can concentrate on his health and treatment.

This effort is deeply personal to me. I was diagnosed with Leukemia at a time when I was extremely sick, could no longer work, and without insurance. I nearly lost everything. I remember the fear of facing a life-threatening illness while wondering how I would survive financially. That experience is why I cannot stand by and watch Billy endure this battle without doing everything possible to help him.
Billy has spent decades helping neighbors, customers, friends, and strangers. He never asked whether helping someone would bring him recognition. He simply helped because that is the kind of man he is.
Now I am asking our community to return that kindness.
If you can contribute $5, $10, $20, or any amount, it will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, please share Billy's story. A single share could reach a former customer, coworker, local business, organization, or compassionate stranger who is able to help.
Please show Billy and his family that they are not alone. Let us stand together for a man who has spent so much of his life standing up for other's.
