Herbertsville Road Speed Limit Reduction Proposed In Brick
An ordinance introduced Tuesday would reduce the speed limit to match other sections of the road in Brick.

BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township Council introduced an ordinance Tuesday evening to reduce the speed limit on a portion of Herbertsville Road.
The ordinance would reduce the speed limit to 4T0 mph from Lanes Mill Road to Maple Avenue, from 45 mph.
The proposal comes following a study by the Ocean County Engineering Department in January of the average speed of vehicles along the stretch after multiple complaints from residents about speeding along Herbertsville Road.

Township officials said the study, which took place over two weeks in January, measured the average speed of vehicles driving along Herbertsville Road along with how many were 5 mph above the limit and how many were 10 mph above the limit.
Ocean County officials agreed the speed limit could be lowered and asked the Brick Township Council to pass an ordinance with the reduction. The county will replace the speed limit signs, Brick officials said.
