Students at Emma Havens Young Elementary School are working to raise awareness of hunger in Brick and surrounding areas through the school’s second annual Hoedown for Hunger.

The country-Western themed dance is set for 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 13, in the all-purpose room at the school on Drum Point Road. All children are welcome to attend and must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are available at the door; there is a $5 donation requested, and the students are seeking donations of nonperishable food for their food drive to help those in need.

The main focus of the students’ attention this year, according to information received from the school, is garnering community participation. Jersey Shore PODS has donated the use of a storage unit that sits in the school’s parking lot and serves as a Community Food Drop-off Center. Blue containers next to the PODS unit are for donors to drop off food.

Please remember to limit donations to nonperishable foods and products that are not in glass jars.

The food drive ends Nov. 20.
