How Much Is COVID Spreading In Ocean County With Delta Variant
The variant accounted for more than 96 percent of NJ cases over a four-week period. Here's the town-by-town case growth in Ocean County.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — Ocean County and New Jersey have seen an uptick in coronavirus cases. But what does that mean for each town? (See town-by-town totals below.)
The county averaged 186 new cases per day in the past week, while averaging 292 new daily cases the prior week, according to the Ocean County Health Department.
The seven-day change is a significant drop from Sept. 10, and means many smaller municipalities may have only a few new infections in the last week, or even none.

The county health department said about 80 percent of the new positive coronavirus cases are in people who have not been vaccinated against the virus. Among the 20 percent of people who are vaccinated and have breakthrough infections, the symptoms have been mild. There have been no deaths in Ocean County from the virus among breakthrough cases.
Officials continue to monitor the delta variant, which accounted for 97.7 percent of coronavirus cases in New Jersey over a four-week period ending on Aug. 28, CDC numbers show. The CDC variant proportions are based on representative CDC sequencing data gathered during that four-week period. There were 2,728 New Jersey samples that underwent sequencing during that time.
