Fatal Stabbing Under Investigation In Brick: Prosecutor

Brick Gardens apartments were the scene of the stabbing; the victim was dropped off at the hospital and died, the prosecutor said.

BRICK, NJ — Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing that happened Sunday at a Brick Township apartment complex, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.

Billhimer said a man was dropped off at Ocean Medical Center in Brick earlier Sunday afternoon with an apparent stab wound in the chest, and the man died as a result. He did not identify the victim further.

He said authorities were following several leads and interviewing family members and witnesses. That included investigating at the Brick Gardens apartment complex.

"There is no danger to the public," Billhimer said.

Brick Township police and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit are investigating, Billhimer said, with assistance from the Ocean County sheriff's office Crime Investigation Unit.

Brick Township Police Sgt. Jim Kelly confirmed the investigation at the apartment complex on Hooper Avenue, but referred all other questions to the Ocean County prosecutor's office.

A photo sent by a nearby resident showed police caution tape draped from a police vehicle to nearby vehicles in the parking lot of the complex. Residents said officers had searched nearby backyards Sunday evening.
