Ocean County Man Found Dead Of Multiple Gunshot Wounds

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Jackson police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Jackson man found inside the Casanova Restorante at 10 South New Prospect Road late Thursday night, a spokesman for the Prosecutor’s Office said.

Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and Jackson Township Police Chief Matthew D. Kunz announced the joint investigation today. Jackson police responded to a report of an injured employee just after 11 p.m. on Thursday, spokesman Al Della Fave said.

“It should be noted the restaurant has been inactive for some time,” he said. ”The joint investigation by the OCPO Major Crimes Unit and Jackson Township Police has identified, located and is presently questioning persons of interest. Additional information will be released as the investigation develops. “

When police arrived, they discovered the man’s body inside the restaurant. The man died of multiple gunshot wounds, he said.

The responding officers immediately secured the scene and called for the OCPO Major Crimes Unit, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI and the Ocean County Medical Examiner to respond. Authorities have determined that others were present at the time of the shooting, Della Fave said.

“The investigating agencies are in the process of piecing together the circumstances surrounding the death,” he said. ”The citizens of Jackson are assured that this event does not pose any danger to their safety. “
