Jackson Middle Schooler Faces Discipline Over BB Gun: Officials
The student brought the unloaded gun to give it back to a friend after it had been borrowed for the weekend.

JACKSON, NJ — A Jackson Township middle school student is facing disciplinary action after the student brought an unloaded BB gun to school on Monday, district officials said.
The BB gun was discovered when a teacher taking attendance at the Christa McAuliffe Middle School saw what appeared to be a weapon in a student's bookbag as the student was taking books out of the bag, officials said in a notice posted on the school district website.
"The teacher immediately took the bag, removed the student from the room and brought the student to school administrators. Police responded immediately," the notice said.

The investigation by the school and police found the student had been using a friend’s BB gun over the weekend and intended to return the unloaded BB gun to the friend, officials said.
"The student will be disciplined in accordance with our district code of conduct," the notice said.

District officials said the notification was sent to parents of students at McAuliffe as well as being posted on its website.
