Lakehurst Woman Dies As SUV Hits Crash Debris On Parkway

The woman's vehicle hit a wheel as she was driving in the early hours Tuesday, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Lakehurst woman was killed Tuesday morning when she hit debris from an earlier crash on the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey State Police said.

Elaina S. Clarke, 46, was driving south on the Parkway in a Chevrolet Equinox south about 5:30 a.m. at milepost 85.7 when she hit a wheel that was in the road from a Ford F-250 that had crashed earlier, Trooper II Charles Marchan said.

After hitting the wheel, the Chevrolet ran off the road and hit the back end of the Ford, which was disabled on the median and unoccupied, and Clarke suffered fatal injuries, he said.
