Authorities are asking motorists to avoid the area of Route 88 in Lakewood.
LAKEWOOD, NJ — Authorities are asking motorists to avoid Route 88 in Lakewood due to an ongoing investigation and police activity in the area Friday afternoon.
The Ocean County Sheriff's Department issued the request on Facebook. According to a report by The Lakewood Scoop, authorities are investigating a possible home invasion.
The report quoted Lakewood police as confirming a possible home invasion, but police offered no further details.

The Asbury Park Press reported the closure of Route 88 extends from New Hampshire Avenue to Cherry Street.
