Let Brick Memorial Troupe's Musical Comedy Brighten Your Weekend

The Mustang Players are presenting "The Drowsy Chaperone" beginning this evening and running through Sunday.

Come take a flight of the imagination and enjoy a tribute to American musicals of the Jazz Age as the Mustang Players, Brick Memorial High School’s drama club, present ”The Drowsy Chaperone” this weekend.

The musical is a show within a show, where one of the main characters, The Man in Chair, a mousy, agoraphobic Broadway fanatic, gets caught up listening to a recording of a fictional 1928 musical comedy and is transported into the show.

The plot of the show-within-a-show centers on a showgirl who plans to give up her career in order to marry an oil tycoon, a move that the show’s producer tries to stop because there is a lot of money is riding on her name to sell the show. There are pun-happy pastry chefs who are thugs in diguise, mistaken identities, and more.
