Life-Threatening Rip Currents, Rough Surf Forecast For Today
National Weather Service says stay out of the water.

If you are thinking of getting in a late September swim, you’d better read this first.
The National Weather Service has issued a high rip current risk for today, along with dangerous surf conditions
Skies will be sunny, with temperatures in the mid 70s. Expect brisk beach winds from the northeast at 10 to 15 miles per hous.

Heavy sure is forecast, with waves up to four to five feet, and northeast swells of five to six feet. Not a good time to be in the water. The surf temperature has dropped to 72 degrees.
“High surf and large swells will produce dangerous pounding surf and rip currents at the beaches,” the NWS says. ”These rip currents will be life-threatening to anyone who enters the surf. Anyone visiting the beaches should say out of the water.

The UVI index for today is a 6, which the NWS considers high. There is no lightning threat today.
Some Ocean County beaches area still guarded through the next few days.
Low tide at Barnegat Inlet was at 11:01 a.m. High tide will occur at 5:06 p.m.
