NEW JERSEY — New Jersey's 10th District legislative seats remain under Republican control, after the GOP candidates easily defeated the Democrats, according to unofficial vote tallies.

Jim Holzapfel, who has served in the state Legislature for nearly 30 years, won re-election to the Senate seat he has held since 2012, according to the unofficial results. On the Assembly side, Gregory McGuckin won re-election to the seat he has held since 2012, and Paul Kanitra won election to the second seat, according to the unofficial tallies.

Holzapfel defeated Democrat Jeff Horn, an attorney in private practice in Toms River and head of the Toms River Democratic Club, garnering 34,845 votes to 17,252 for Horn for the four-year seat.
