BRICK, NJ — After years of delays to get state and federal permits approved, Brick Township has broken ground on the renovation of Mallard Point Park.

The park, on Tunes Brook Drive off Hooper Avenue, is getting playground improvements, fitness apparatus, and walkway improvements, along with shoreline and beach stabilization. The park sits along the Tunes Branch of the Kettle Creek.

The $436,935 contract for the project, which also includes submerged breakwaters to protect the shoreline, fencing and landscaping, was awarded to TC Landscape Construction Group, of Bayville.

The project is the latest in the township's efforts to refurbish all of its parks, an effort that began in 2014.

Past projects under the program have included new playgrounds at Windward Beach and major renovations at Herbertsville Park, formerly known as Colorado Park, Lake Riviera Park, Angela Hibbard Park, Hank Waltonowski Park, Bernie Cooke Park, Bayside Park and Cedar Bridge Manor Park.

Mallard Point Park is expected to reopen later in 2026.
