Lydecker Withdraws From Democrats' Council Ticket
Democratic Club will have to choose a new candidate for the November ballot.
Brick Township Councilwoman Susan Lydecker has withdrawn her name from the ballot in the race for four seats on the Brick Township Council, the township’s Democratic Club announced.
Lydecker, who has served on the council since January 2012, was the top vote-getter in the Democratic primary in June. She ran for her first term on the council as part of the team headed by now-Mayor John G. Ducey, and her term ends Dec. 31. She had served as council president in 2014.
“Susan is a valued member of the team and will be missed,” Ducey said in a news release. “She led the way on the Sustainable Brick Initiative, which used state and federal grants to make our buildings more energy efficient. Susan worked to rebuild our community after Sandy and to keep taxes stable for four straight years. It’s a record to be proud of.”

“I’d like to thank the people of Brick for the opportunity to serve on council. It’s been an honor,” Lydecker said in the release. “I’d also like to thank my family, my colleagues on council and the Brick Township employees who worked with me to make Brick better.”
The Democratic Municipal Committee will meet shortly to select a replacement candidate who will appear on the November ballot with Andrea Zapcic, Arthur Halloran and James T. Fozman.
