Man, 74, Dies During Overnight House Fire In Brick
A woman in the home escaped but was treated at the hospital, but a pet dog is unaccounted for, the prosecutor's office says.

A 74-year-old man has died and a woman was injured in a fire in a Brick Township home overnight, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Al Della Fave, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, said Brick Township police and its fire departments were called to a structure fire on Brower Drive, in the Sandy Point section, shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday.
Outside the home they found neighbors giving CPR to the man, but Della Fave said those efforts were not successful in reviving him. It is unknown whether he died as a result of injuries suffered in the fire or as the result of a heart attack, he said. An autopsy is scheduled, Della Fave said.

Della Fave said flames were visible from all sides of the house when police and firefighters arrived, with units from Bay Head, Mantoloking and Point Pleasant responding to assist Brick’s fire companies -- Pioneer Hose, Breton Woods, Laurelton and Herbertsville.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office’s Arson Unit, Ocean County Sheriff’s CSI and Brick Fire Prevention Bureau all are on scene beginning the investigation into the cause and origin of the fire, Della Fave said.
