Man, 80, Dies In Head-On Crash In Ocean County, Police Say

A van and a pickup truck crashed on Toms River Road in Jackson, police said.

JACKSON, NJ — A Jackson Township man was killed in a head-on crash between a pickup truck and a van on Friday, police said.

Michael McDonald, 80, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Toms River Road, Jackson Lt. Edward Travisano said.

The crash was reported shortly after 4 p.m. on Toms River Road in the area of Aiden Lane, Travisano said. One of the vehicles was reported to be on fire and a person was reported to be trapped in one orf the vehicles, he said.

Authorities say McDonald was driving north on Toms River Road in a black 2022 Toyota Sienna van when he crossed over the double yellow center line for an unknown reason and hit a Ford F-250 head-on that was headed south, Travisano said.

The driver of the pickup truck was not identified.
