Man Arrested In Jackson Stabbing Death: Prosecutor

Jshawn Cutler, 23, was arrested Friday afternoon; he is accused of stabbing Isaiah Renouf, 23, during an altercation, authorities said.

JACKSON, NJ — A Jackson Township man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of another Jackson man, the Ocean County prosecutor's office announced Friday night.

Jshawn Cutler, 23, of Jackson, was arrested Friday afternoon during a motor vehicle stop in Lakewood, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Cutler has been charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and burglary in connection with the death of Isaiah Renouf, 23, also of Jackson, Billhimer said.

Jackson police answered a 911 call at a Connor Boulevard home about the stabbing and found Renouf on the floor with a large wound to the chest, the prosecutor's office said. Lifesaving measures were attempted at the scene and he was taken to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, but he succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy by the Ocean County medical examiner determined Renouf died from the stab wound to the chest, and ruled the manner of death to be a homicide, Billhimer's office said. Read more: Grief After Jackson Murder As Investigation Continues

The investigation found Renouf and Cutler had an altercation at the Connor Boulevard home and Cutler stabbed him, the prosecutor's office said.

Cutler was arrested during a motor vehicle stop by the Lakewood Township Police Department; he tis being held in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

"Outstanding teamwork was exhibited today by all the law enforcement officers and agencies involved in this investigation," Billhimer said. "This horrendous crime was solved so swiftly thanks to the hard work and determination of these fine men and women in blue. Through their efforts, a very dangerous person has been removed from the streets of Ocean County. Now, our focus is to ensure that justice is done for Mr. Renouf."

Billhimer and Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz acknowledged the cooperation of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Jackson Township Police Department, Lakewood Township Police Department, Pemberton Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit in the investigation.
