Man Charged In 4 Smash-And-Grab Burglaries In Brick

BRICK, NJ — A Lacey Township man has been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries in Brick Township, police said.

Ryan J. Dautorio, 30, of the Forked River section of Lacey, was arrested Thursday following a break-in at Added Touch Florist, Brick Sgt. Jim Kelly said.

Detective Ryan Talty was doing surveillance Thursday in the area of the Cedar Garden Apartments off Cedar Bridge Avenue following a string of smash-and-grab burglaries to businesses in the area when police were alerted to a glass-break alarm at the florist at 1021 Cedar Bridge Ave., about 9:30 p.m., Kelly said.

Moments later Talty saw a person, later identified as Dautorio, running toward the apartments from the direction of the florist, and he went into an apartment through a rear slider, Kelly said.

While police monitored the apartment, other officers processed the scene of the burglary and found a landscape rock was used to smash the front glass door.

Toms River Police K-9 Handler Kyle Martucci and his K-9 partner Cyrus tracked a scent from the florist to the apartment where Dautorio had run, and he was arrested, Kelly said. Proceeds from the burglary were recovered at the apartment, he said.

Dautorio has been charged with four counts of burglary, three counts of theft, and four counts of criminal mischief, Kelly said. He is accused of two burglaries at the Country Sudser Car wash and one at Mr. Tire, both on Cedar Bridge Avenue, Kelly said.

The investigation is continuing.

Dautorio is being held at the Ocean County Jail.
