Man Drowns In Ocean Off Bay Head
The 22-year-old from New York disappeared in the water in Mantoloking and was found unresponsive half an hour later, authorities said.

A New York man who disappeared while swimming in the ocean at Mantoloking has drowned, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
The 22-year-old man from Yonkers was swimming with friends in Mantoloking when he suddenly disappeared from sight, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office. Mantoloking lifeguards called 911 about 2:35 p.m. and an extensive search was conducted, with lifeguard stands in the area notified, and assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard, the New Jersey State Police and first aid and fire units from surrounding towns, he said.
The man was found at 3:08 p.m. unresponsive in the surf near Strickland Street in Bay Head by lifeguards from teh Bay Head Improvement Association. The man was brought to shore and given CPR, and Ocean County Prosecutor Detective Mitch Remig and Point Beach First Aid took over CPR and turned the victim over to EMS for transport to Brick Hospital, Della Fave said.

The man was pronounced dead upon arrival, he said. His name has not been released by authorities.
The death investigation will be conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI and Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office, Della Fave said.
