Manasquan Savings Bank Partners with Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity to Help Repair Sandy-Damaged Home

A team of ten bank employees joined NOHFH to assist with the painting of a Toms River home damaged by Superstorm Sandy and a fire.

MANASQUAN, NJ (October 3, 2014) – Manasquan Savings Bank, a community bank with a 140-year history serving Monmouth and Ocean Counties, has emphasized community throughout its anniversary celebrations in 2014. On September 30, a team of ten from the bank joined Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity (NOHFH) to assist with the painting of a home damaged by Superstorm Sandy in Toms River, and by a fire a year later. In addition to the day’s work, the bank made a $1,000 donation.

Members of the team arrived on site bright and early for a painting clinic sponsored by Sherwin Williams. From there, they went on to paint ceilings, walls, and trim with the assistance of the NOHFH team. Participants noted that it was moving to be able to spend time with the homeowners, and to hear their story firsthand. Lunch for the day was donated by Surf Taco of Silverton.

“It feels good to do work for someone who genuinely deserves it,” said Heather Schick, AVP, Product Support Specialist at Manasquan Savings Bank.

Sandra Turner, AVP, Corporate Trainer for Manasquan Savings Bank, is a member of the Board of Directors for NOHFH and helped to coordinate the day’s events. This was the first time the bank has partnered with the Northern Ocean branch of Habitat for Humanity, and the bank looks forward to more volunteer days with the organization in the future.

“Without dedicated organizations like Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity, many more families impacted by Superstorm Sandy would still be without the resources to begin rebuilding,” said President and CEO James S. Vaccaro. “We are moved as an organization and individually to be able to do our part to help.”
