Missing Lakewood Teen Sought After Car Found Abandoned: Police

Breaking: The 18-year-old's mother found the car at Shenandoah Park, but there was no sign of her son, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Lakewood Township police are searching for an 18-year-old resident whose car was found abandoned at a park in the township, police said.

Elibit Mena, 18, has been missing since Sunday evening, Lakewood Detective Lt. Gregory Staffordsmith said. He was last heard from about 5 p.m. on Sunday when he went to Shenandoah Park to meet some friends, Staffordsmith said.

His mother found Mena's car unoccupied in the parking lot at the park, located on South Clover Street, with no sign of her son, he said. Mena was last seen wearing a blue jacket, gray sweatpants and black sneakers, Staffordsmith said.

Lakewood police, in coordination with the the New Jersey State Police, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, Chaverim, the Lakewood Community Safety Watch and volunteer groups have been searching for Mena with no success, he said.

Anyone with information about what happened to Mena is urged to contact the Lakewood Police Department at 732-363-0200 or the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office at 732-929-2027, Staffordsmith said.
