Mobility Scooter Rider Killed Crossing Dimly Lit Road: Jackson Police
The 81-year-old man was crossing Jackson Mills Road at an intersection Monday night when he was hit, police said.
JACKSON, NJ — An 81-year-old Jackson man was killed Monday when he was hit by a pickup truck while crossing Jackson Mills Road, police said Tuesday.
Authorities did not release the man's name.
The man was crossing Jackson Mills Road at Harmony Road on a battery-powered 4-wheel mobility scooter when he was hit by a black Ford F-150 driven by a 64-year-old man at about 9:25 p.m., Jackson Police Lt. George Vidalis said. Impairment was not suspected to be a factor at this time, he said.

The area was dimly lit at the time of the crash and the man on the scooter was dressed in dark clothing, Vidalis said. The scooter did have some reflective stickers on it but was not equipped with any functioning lights, he said.
