Mole Bombs Likely Source of Fire at Clay Avenue Residence
Police officer extinguished fire.

Mole bombs that were placed in the ground to eliminate a mole problem at a Clay Ave. residence may have been to blame for a fire there this weekend.
On Nov. 2, at approximately 11:24 p.m., Brick Township Patrolman Joseph Lardieri, while on routine patrol, observed smoke coming from the rear of the residence, police said.
Lardieri alerted the residents, who were unaware of the fire, and he had them evacuate the residence.
Lardieri was able to extinguish the flames with the fire extinguisher from his vehicle. The residents said that the “mole bombs” may have ignited a small pile of debris on the ground near the residence.
