The motorcyclist's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

BRICK, NJ — A Point Pleasant motorcyclist was seriously injured Thursday evening in a collision between his motorcycle and an SUV on Route 88, Brick Township police said.

Christos Michael, 57, of Point Pleasant, was hospitalized at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, with head and chest injuries, Brick Patrolman Keith Donnelly said. The injuries he sustained did not appear to be life-threatening as of Thursday night, Donnelly said.

Michael was driving an orange 2000 Harley Davidson Dyna Glide west on Route 88 about 5:40 p.m. approaching the intersection with Jack Martin Boulevard. Burke Blackman, 75, of Brick, driving a beige 2015 Lexus RX3 SUV, was stopped on Route 88 east, waiting to turn left onto Jack Martin Boulevard when the traffic signal changed from green to amber, Donnelly said. As Blackman began to turn left, the motorcycle continued through the intersection and hit the Lexus.
