National Champion Youth Cheer Teams Honored By Brick Council

Three Brick United teams won national championships at the American Youth Cheer national competition in Florida in December.

BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township Council honored three Brick United cheer teams who won American Youth Cheer national championships in Florida in December.

The Brick United Division 14 (for girls 14 and younger), Division 10 and Division 8 teams all won titles in Florida and were honored at the Feb. 28 meeting.

In addition, the Division 14 Cheer Team participated in the YCADA Global Competition in Atlantic City, where they were crowned Overall Youth Cheer Grand Champions, the township said.

"These championships were the result of an incredible amount of practice, hard work and dedication," Brick Township officials said. "Congratulations to the athletes, coaches, demonstrators, volunteers and parents of the team on an incredible achievement."

Each team received certificates that were signed by former Mayor John G. Ducey, in his last action as mayor before he resigned to become an Ocean County Superior Court judge.

Each team also had a day designated to them in Brick Township.
