Need Drug Treatment Information? Brick Puts Resources At Your Fingertips
The Brick Municipal Alliance Committee, which focuses on substance abuse prevention, has put together information for those who need help.

The news is rife with articles about heroin arrests and heroin addiction. A recent article on NJ.com noted that the rate of heroin use has tripled in New Jersey in the last couple of years.
The newly re-formed Brick Municipal Alliance Committee, a group of more than a dozen people representing all aspects of the township’s community, is working on a number of initiatives to help combat substance abuse in the town.
One of the issues the committee members have felt was important, however, was getting information into the hands of those who are faced with substance abuse issues, whether it is themselves or family members who are addicted.

According to the township’s website, “The Brick Municipal Alliance Committee -- BMAC -- is a municipally supported, grant-funded organization whose mission is to provide substance abuse prevention programs and services for the community. It is a grass-roots effort led by a group of volunteers representing organizations and key stakeholders empowered to initiate community-level change.
“With funding provided by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse along with sponsorships and donations, BMAC’s efforts will be focused on reducing prescription medication misuse, particularly opiates, which is fueling the heroin crisis in our area,” the website states.
BMAC meetings are held monthly on Mondays at 7 p.m. in Town Hall. All are welcome.
