No Beach Buggy Permits This Fall, Township Says
Permits won't be issued this year because of the ongoing work on the revetment project and beach replenishment

Due to the ongoing work with the beach revetment project and beach replenishment program on the barrier island, Brick Township officials have suspended the issuance of beach vehicle permits this year, Sgt. Henry Drew of the police department announced Thursday.
Normally, the township issues permits allowing holders to drive vehicles -- typically trucks or sport-utility vehicles -- on the beach, primarily for surf fishing. The permits usually allow vehicles -- often referred to as beach buggies -- to be driven on the beach between Oct. 1 and April 30.
The ordinance that allows it has been suspended so as not to interfere with the ongoing work being completed, Drew said.
