No Mold Issues at Drum Point Elementary, Monitoring Report Says
Air quality at the school was tested Aug. 7 and found to be within normal ranges, report says

Mold is not an issue at Drum Point Elementary School this fall, according to an August report issued by an environmental testing company.
“There were no signed of abnormal mold growth and no mold-like or musty odors,” Richard Lynch, president of Environmental Safety Management Corp., said in a letter to Brick Township Schools Superintendent Walter Uszenski. “Air sampling for mold spores ... revealed that air levels of mold spores were normal in all areas tested ... comparable to outdoor mold levels.”
Testing was conducted Aug. 7 and will be conducted again in September, Lynch said.

At least 10 rooms at the school tested positive for mold last year early in the school year, but the school remained open while remediation was conducted on weekends. It was a decision that angered many parents, who expressed concern about students being exposed to the mold, particularly those who had mold sensitivities or asthma.
