Ocean Co. Mom Drove Drunk To Drop Child At Middle School: Police

The woman was still in the school parking lot when police arrived and refused a breath test, they said.

JACKSON, NJ — A Jackson Township mother is facing child abuse and neglect charges after authorities say she was driving drunk when she dropped her child off at middle school.

The 43-year-old woman, whose name was not released, was arrested on Oct. 9, Jackson Capt. Steven Laskiewicz said.

Police were called to Christa McAuliffe Middle School on South Hope Chapel Road at 9 a.m. Oct. 9 for a report of an intoxicated woman who had driven a child to school. The woman was in the parking lot when Police Officers Andy Falzarano and Craig Lindenberg arrived.

The woman refused to submit to breath testing and was arrested, Laskiewicz said. She was charged with driving under the influence with a minor child in the vehicle, driving under the influence on school grounds, refusal to submit to breath samples and reckless driving. She additionally was charged with abuse, cruelty and neglect, Laskiewicz said. She was released on summons pending a court appearance.
