Ocean County Man, 68, Struck And Killed Crossing Road, Police Say
The man was crossing Cedar Bridge Avenue Saturday evening when he was hit, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ -- A Lakewood man died of injuries suffered when he was struck by an SUV Saturday as he crossed Cedar Bridge Avenue, police said.
The 68-year-old man has not been identified, but Lakewood police said he was attempting to cross near Ashley Avenue when he was struck about 6:40 p.m. by a 2013 GMC Yukon driven by a 55-year-old woman from Freehold.
The man sustained serious head injuries and serious internal injuries and was taken by MONOC paramedics to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, Lakewood, where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The accident is under investigation by the Lakewood Police Department Traffic Safety Unit, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit. At this time, no charges have been lodged against the driver of the GMC Yukon, police said.
