Ocean County Man Impregnated 14-Year-Old Girl, Authorities Say

An Ocean County man is jail in lieu of $135,000 bail, accused of sexually assaulting and impregnating a 14-year-old girl from Howell in October 2014, according to court documents.

Howell Township police arrested Jose Bonilla, 44, of Joe Parker Avenue, Lakewood, on Tuesday in the case, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office.

The complaint signed by Detective Janet Benitez accuses Bonilla of having sex with the girl on Oct. 1, 2014, with the encounter resulting in a pregnancy.

He has been charged with aggravated sexual assault by having sexual intercourse with a child between the ages of 13 and 16, and endangering the welfare of a child, by engaging in “sexual conduct which impair(s) or debauch(s) the moral of (the child) specifically by having sexual intercourse and impregnated said juvenile,” according to court documents.

Bonilla’s bail was set by Superior Court Judge Richard W. English, who additionally imposed an order of no contact with the victim.
