Ocean County Man Killed In North Jersey Crash: Report

JERSEY CITY, NJ -- An Ocean County man has been identified as the person killed in a crash on Routes 1 and 9 in North Jersey on Tuesday, according to a report.

NJ.com reported Scott J. Smith, 57, of Jackson, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Jersey City.

Smith was northbound on the highway just after 6 a.m. in a 2003 Hyundai Elantra when he crossed into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a box truck, the report said.

No one was else was injured in the crash. Smith was traveling alone and had to be extricated from the car, but died shortly after the crash, the report said.
